Standing behind the bar at the Crown and Anchor [in Shoreham]. Gay barman there. This old man comes in and says to me, ‘These daytrips – do they go from Littlehampton?’ He has a brochure entitled ‘Salisbury’. He shuffles money and says, ‘How many tickets can you give me for 50p?’ ‘There’s a reduction for G.L.s’ the barman says. ‘OAPs if you don’t mind,’ the old man says indignantly.
[I worked on the promotion of Sealink ferries, but
never behind a bar. No idea what GLs are.]
Above, th Crown and Anchor, Shoreham; below, me advertising Sealink crossings on Brighton beach, that summer.
