Robert Sheppard: the last of six poems from Bad Idea published on Stride

A sequential run of six sonnets from Bad Idea is to appeared on Stride on the 1,3,5,7,9th and today, on 11 January 2020. They are all versions of Michael Drayton’s sonnets from his Idea. (In short, my ‘bad’ idea is Brexit.)

‘Bad Idea’ XXVII: This sonnet muses over the Parliamentary debates on ‘deals’, but ends by considering the proposed post-Brexit arrangements. In a humorous way. It’s a good way to end of slab of these bad ideas! Interesting epigraph from John Clare (whose poetry I've been reading clsely in the last year or so). Here it is.

Bad Idea is described fully (with links to other poems from the work) here:

Or you can look up the eight online poems from Bad Idea that may be accessed from this post:

Now all six have been posted I shall post a single post on Pages on 13th January to guide readers directly to them all. And I shall include Drayton's originals for comparison.

Thanks to Rupert Loydell, Stride editor, for taking them all.
